John Ehret High School is proud to announce that we have 13 students who have made it to the second of three rounds for the POSSE Scholarship. POSSE Scholarship foundation began in 1989 in order to identify public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may have been overlooked by traditional college selection processes. The foundation extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multi-cultural teams (Posses) of 10 students. The POSSE then attends the college together and offers support to each other as they pursue their goals. The partner colleges (Tulane, Illinois Wesleyan, Case Western Reserve University and Notre Dame) award POSSE Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships. If the students are selected they also participate in a weekly, two-hour pre-collegiate training program that addresses team building, cross-cultural communication, leadership, and academic excellence. They are also assigned a faculty mentor at their University that they must meet with weekly. There are over 400 students in the New Orleans and greater New Orleans area that compete for the POSSE scholarship.
The following is a list of the John Ehret students who made it to round two:
Please take the time to congratulate theses students for their hard work and wish them luck!
